The State Administration for Market Regulation, China's top market regulator, approved the establishment of a national testing and measurement center for intelligent industrial robots on Friday, as the country strives to boost the core competitiveness of industrial robots for higher-quality development.

Measurement simply aims to test whether the technology or product is qualified during their research and development, manufacturing as well as mass production. To some extent, it is also of significance for the high-end development of an industry.

The new center will be operated by the Research Institute of Inspection and Certification of Changzhou in Jiangsu province, the SAMR said.

Changzhou, as an industrial cluster of intelligent industrial robots, produced around 25 percent of the country's total robots last year, local government data showed.
